Terms of service
Last updated: 28 October 2026
Hello, and welcome!
Thank you so much for being here!
These Terms & Conditions explain how purchasing and using my sewing patterns works, so everything is clear and fair for both of us.
By placing an order on www.lizziestudio.com, you agree to these terms.
Lizzie Patterns is an independent sewing pattern studio operated by Thao Trinh, a sole proprietor (entreprise individuelle) registered in France.
You can find my full business details at the bottom of this page.
1. My sewing patterns
All sewing patterns sold on this website are digital PDF products. No physical items will be shipped.
Each pattern includes sewing instructions and printable pattern files. Depending on the design, these may include A4, US Letter, A0 copy-shop and projector formats.
Please check the individual product description to see exactly which files and sizes are included.
Most patterns also have a video tutorial available on my YouTube channel, Lizzie Patterns.
To use the patterns, you'll need a device capable of opening PDF files and access to a suitable printer or print shop. Video tutorials require an internet connection.
Free patterns are subject to the same personal-use and intellectual-property conditions as paid patterns unless otherwise stated.
2. Prices and payment
All prices are displayed in euros (EUR), with other currencies available where supported by the website.
VAT is not applicable to transactions covered by the French small-business VAT exemption (Article 293 B of the French General Tax Code). Other taxes may apply where required by the customer's location and applicable tax rules.
The final amount payable, including any applicable taxes, will be displayed before you confirm your order.
If you pay in another currency, your payment provider or bank may apply its own exchange rate or additional fees.
Payments are securely processed through Shopify and the payment providers available at checkout. I don't receive or store your full payment-card details.
3. Placing an order
To purchase a pattern, simply add it to your cart and proceed to checkout.
You'll have the opportunity to review your order, check your details and see the total price before confirming your purchase.
You can place an order as a guest or use a customer account.
Once your payment is confirmed, you'll receive an order confirmation by email.
Please make sure your email address is correct, as this is how your digital files and purchase information will be sent to you.
4. Getting your patterns
Your patterns are available for download as soon as your payment has been confirmed.
You'll receive an email containing your download link.
If you have a customer account, your purchased patterns will also be accessible through Your Library.
If you purchased as a guest, you can access your files using the download link provided by email. Where supported, you may also create or access a customer account to manage your purchases.
Each purchased file can currently be downloaded up to 50 times.
I aim to keep purchased patterns accessible through the customer library for as long as the shop and its digital delivery service remain available. However, I recommend downloading and saving a personal copy of your files after purchase.
If you lose access to your files or experience any download problems, please contact me. I'll be happy to help you recover your purchase.
If your download email doesn't arrive, check your spam folder first, then send me a little note at love@lizziestudio.com.
5. Refunds & cancellations
Because my sewing patterns are digital products delivered immediately after purchase, I generally don't offer refunds or exchanges for a change of mind once digital delivery has begun and any applicable withdrawal right has been validly lost.
Please take a moment to check the size chart, fabric requirements and pattern description before purchasing.
For customers in the EU
Under EU consumer protection law, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase.
For digital content that isn't supplied on a physical medium, this right may be lost when:
- You expressly agree to receive your digital content before the withdrawal period ends.
- You acknowledge that doing so means losing your right of withdrawal.
- The required confirmation is provided to you.
- Delivery of the digital content has begun.
Where these conditions have been satisfied, you will no longer be able to withdraw simply because you've changed your mind.
If these conditions haven't been met, your statutory withdrawal rights remain applicable.
For customers outside the EU
Refunds and cancellations are handled according to these Terms & Conditions and any mandatory consumer protection laws that apply in your country or region.
Nothing in this policy excludes rights that cannot legally be waived.
If something isn't right
If your file is damaged, won't open, is incomplete or doesn't match its description, please contact me at love@lizziestudio.com with your order number.
I'll do my best to resolve the issue by providing corrected or replacement files.
Where a problem cannot be resolved, or where applicable consumer law requires another remedy, you may be entitled to a price reduction or refund.
Your statutory consumer rights always remain protected.
6. Your legal guarantees
Every paid sewing pattern is covered by the consumer guarantees required under applicable law.
Under French law, digital content supplied in a single delivery benefits from a legal guarantee of conformity for two years from delivery.
If a purchased pattern has a conformity defect, you may request that the digital content be brought into conformity, free of charge and without unreasonable delay.
Depending on the nature of the problem and the conditions provided by law, you may also be entitled to a price reduction or a refund.
The legal guarantee includes the provision of updates necessary to maintain conformity where legally required.
For customers in other countries, any additional mandatory consumer guarantees applicable to their purchase remain unaffected.
French statutory guarantee information
For digital content supplied in a single delivery, the following rights apply under Articles L224-25-1 to L224-25-31 of the French Consumer Code:
Legal guarantee of conformity
The consumer has two years from the supply of the digital content to request the legal guarantee of conformity where a conformity defect exists.
During the first year following supply, the consumer only needs to establish that the defect exists, not when it arose.
The consumer is entitled to have the digital content brought into conformity without unjustified delay, at no cost and without major inconvenience.
Where the legal conditions are met, the consumer may instead obtain a price reduction or terminate the contract and receive a refund in exchange for no longer using the digital content. This includes circumstances where conformity cannot be restored, the seller fails to restore conformity appropriately, or the defect is sufficiently serious to justify an immediate remedy.
A minor defect does not entitle the consumer to terminate a paid contract solely on that basis.
Any period during which the digital content is unavailable because it is being brought into conformity suspends the remaining guarantee period until conforming content is supplied again.
A professional who obstructs the legal guarantee of conformity in bad faith may face a civil fine of up to €300,000, potentially increased to 10% of average annual turnover, under Article L242-18-1 of the French Consumer Code.
The consumer also benefits from the legal guarantee against hidden defects under Articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code, for two years from discovery of the defect. Depending on the conditions provided by law, this may give rise to a price reduction or a refund in exchange for no longer using the digital content.
These legal protections apply independently of my customer-service policy.
7. How you can use my patterns
When you purchase a Lizzie Patterns sewing pattern, you're purchasing a licence to use the pattern, not ownership of the pattern files or their intellectual property.
I want you to enjoy sewing with my patterns, so here's what you're welcome to do.
You're welcome to:
- Sew as many garments as you like for yourself, your family and your friends.
- Make alterations to suit your measurements, personal style and preferences.
- Sell up to 30 finished garments made personally by you from each purchased pattern design, in total.
- Sell those handmade garments at markets, through your own small business or online.
- Share photographs and videos of your finished projects on social media.
If you'd like to sell more than 30 garments made from one pattern design, please contact me first so we can discuss a separate commercial arrangement.
When sharing or selling your makes, a little credit is always appreciated!
For example: "Made with the Valentine Dress pattern by Lizzie Patterns."
You can also tag @lizziedesignstudio and use #lizziepatterns.
Please don't:
- Share, distribute, upload, forward or resell my pattern files or instruction booklets, whether for free or for payment.
- Reproduce or distribute modified versions of my pattern files.
- Print or distribute copies of the patterns for other people without permission.
- Use my pattern files as teaching materials in paid workshops without prior written permission.
- Use purchased patterns for industrial or mass production beyond the permitted commercial licence.
- Present my original pattern files, instructions or illustrations as your own work.
Making alterations to a pattern does not give you permission to reproduce or distribute the original or modified pattern files.
If you're unsure whether a particular use is allowed, please feel free to ask.
8. Copyright and intellectual property
All original sewing patterns, instructions, illustrations, photographs, videos and other creative materials published by Lizzie Patterns are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Unless otherwise stated, the intellectual property rights in these original materials belong to Thao Trinh, trading as Lizzie Patterns.
Purchasing a pattern grants you the usage rights described in these terms but does not transfer ownership of the intellectual property.
Thank you for respecting the time and care that goes into each design. It really means a lot to a one-woman studio.
9. Sizing and sewing results
Most Lizzie Patterns designs are available in EU sizes 32–56 (XXS–4XL), drafted for a height of approximately 1.65 m and a B cup, unless otherwise specified.
Please check the size chart and individual product description before purchasing.
For the best results, I recommend:
- Comparing your body measurements with the size chart.
- Printing the test square at 100% scale before printing the entire pattern.
- Choosing fabric suitable for the design.
- Making a toile when possible, especially when using expensive fabric.
Every pattern is carefully designed and tested, but sewing results can vary depending on measurements, fabric choice, alterations, printing accuracy and construction techniques.
I cannot be responsible for problems caused solely by incorrect measurements, unsuitable materials, printing errors or mistakes made during construction.
Nothing in this section limits my legal responsibility for defective digital content or your statutory consumer rights.
10. Consumer mediation and disputes
If you experience a problem with your order, please contact me first at love@lizziestudio.com.
I'll always do my best to find a fair and reasonable solution.
If we can't resolve a complaint together, consumers may have access to an independent consumer mediation service.
In accordance with French consumer law, eligible consumers can contact my appointed consumer mediator free of charge after first submitting a written complaint to me.
Customers may also have access to other dispute-resolution procedures and competent courts under applicable law.
11. Applicable law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by French law.
However, if you're purchasing from another country, this does not deprive you of any mandatory consumer protection rights that apply to you under applicable law.
Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts any legal rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
12. Changes to these terms
I may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to the shop, its services or applicable laws.
The version in effect when you place your order will generally apply to that purchase, subject to applicable law.
The latest version will always be available on this page.
