The Bella Dress has a dropped shoulder and soft side gathers that give you the look of a bias cut, without the extra effort. An optional slit adds a little allure, and an invisible side zip keeps the silhouette sleek. Make it knee-length, midi, or as a chic little top.

This is a digital PDF pattern, not a paper pattern.

Fabric requirements

Dresses

A light to medium-weight woven fabric with a flowy drape, like a viscose satin or crepe. Heavier or stiffer fabrics suit the mini better than the midi.

Mini 1.6–2 m (1.8–2.2 yd) · Midi 2.2–3 m (2.4–3.3 yd)

Top

The easy-going one: makers have sewn it in almost every fabric, from cotton to light chiffon.

About 1 m (1.1 yd)

Jersey hack: many makers have sewn Bella in jersey with fabulous results. Size down 1–2 sizes depending on your fabric's stretch, and skip the zip altogether.

All amounts for 140 cm (55") wide fabric. Exact amounts per size are in the booklet. No lining.

Notions
  • Invisible zip: at least 35 cm (14") for the dresses, 30 cm (12") for the top. Not needed if you sew it in jersey.
  • Interfacing tape
  • Matching thread
