The Lily Bias Skirt is a straight, bias-cut maxi with a sleek, almost mermaid-like shape. I couldn't find this silhouette anywhere, so I made my own. It's a lovely first bias project, with French seams and a simple elastic waist.

Fabric requirements

Choose a lightweight, flowy fabric with a soft stretch on the bias, like a viscose satin or crepe. Avoid cotton, linen and stiff fabrics: they won't drape on the bias.

Lining: None, the skirt is unlined.

Fabric needed:

  • 1.8 m (2 yd) of 150 cm (59") wide fabric
  • or 1.9–2 m (2.1–2.2 yd) of 115 cm (45") wide fabric
Notions
  • 4 cm (1½") wide elastic, cut to fit your waist
  • Matching thread
  • Optional: Ban-Rol tape for an easy baby hem

No zip needed.
